Herrenknecht is a technology and market leader in the area of mechanised tunnelling systems and drilling concepts for horizontal, inclined and vertical applications. As the leading company worldwide, Herrenknecht delivers innovative tunnel boring machines for all ground conditions and in all diameters - ranging from 0.10 to 19 metres, for traffic and utility tunnels. As a reliable project partner, Herrenknecht supports its customers with an extensive range of services from the beginning of the project to final completion. From the initial project idea, through manufacturing, transport, assembly, remote and onsite support and spare parts services.
As the world’s population grows, the need for underground supply and disposal networks is also increasing; in emerging and developing countries as well as in modern metropolises. Herrenknecht’s trenchless solutions are in operation in numerous projects worldwide to install small-diameter tunnels and networks – e.g. for water and sewage, oil and gas pipelines, or protective pipes for underground cables. Herrenknecht´s portfolio of Microtunnelling equipment, HDD Rigs and Mechanized Shaft Sinking Equipment (VSM) is further completed by a broad range of equipment for the areas of mining (construction of underground infrastructures around raw material deposits) and exploration (oil, gas and geothermal energy).
Based on 45 years of experience in the tunnelling industry, the Offshore Foundation Drilling (OFD) machine has been developed to overcome the limits of existing pile driving methods for offshore foundations with a drilling concept, especially in challenging ground conditions like rocky seabed. The OFD range offers various drilling techniques for offshore wind foundations: both full-face cutting systems and sectional excavation concepts are utilized, depending on the foundation type and diameter to be installed, for socket drilling and drive-drill-drive installations of monopiles and all kinds of pin piles.
In 2023, the Herrenknecht Group achieved a total output of 1,296 million euros. The independent family-run business employs 5,125 people worldwide, including around 200 trainees. With more than 60 subsidiaries and associated companies working in related fields in Germany and abroad, Herrenknecht is able to provide a comprehensive range of services close to the project site and the customer, quickly and in a targeted way. Under the umbrella of the Herrenknecht Group, a team of innovative specialists offers integrated tunnelling solutions with project-specific equipment and service packages upon request.
